Is not a very interesting story, but you can save some time if you read it: this software is in alpha stage! What does this mean? Take a look at this wikipedia entry for more information.
In short, this means that if you are not a geek and you are not familiar with the world of PHP development, it’s better for you to only test the application demo. In the near future we will develop an installation process similar to WordPress install script but, as I commented before with one person who had spent its precious time testing the app, we can not start the cart before the horse.
If anyway you want to install the app, we will still be here to get your feedback. Good night and good luck (or something similar).

Oops…
I was so amazed by siwapp’s visual appeal last night and downloaded it without reading this first. I Wish you could write a little installation README file soon. By the way, I’m using WinRAR and I’m (still) having trouble extracting few files which have no extension.
Hi, Jim…
As soon as I have a while, I will write a less technical installation tutorial, since there is no user friendly installation script yet.
You can try 7zip and give us feedback if you have any problem. You are not the only person who reported problems extracting the .tar.gz file, so I will try to upload a zipped version.
Remember that this is alpha. There are two groups where you can let us your feedback, one more oriented to developers and the other oriented to resolve user questions.

Just keep up the good work.
I’m also waiting for a friendly installation
Awesome first release!
While I think the wordpress like installer will be handy, the docs you have lay everything out nicely. I’m very impressed, hard to believe this is the first alpha version.
I typically disable ini_set on my servers, and this prevented the app from running. This is a fairly common practice in the hosting industry so you may want to consider other ways of doing what you need to do.
Ah well, it’s opensource so we can’t complain
. Keep up the good work! Looks like an interesting application. I’m still using our home made invoice system but these features (siwapp) look good!
Hi Carlos,
I really love your app, I’m a symfony developer too, and I’m about to start a major project.
Been looking for someone who can do simple but elegant layouts and graphics just like you have in the application.
Could you? or could you recommend anyone? What are your opinions about hosting symfomy projects ie which web hosts are your favourite ?
thanks alot in advance
Hi Del Sauzo,
Thank you for your comment. This project is not only mine, but is the joint work of several developers. Everyone in MARKHAUS do have some skills in web design, but we are not truly (100%) web-designers.
I have not much free time to work in more open source projects (I’m married, hahaha), but you can send us more information and try to draw our attention on it (and to provoke a discussion with my wife, but that’s my problem
).
If you are thinking on a commercial project we can talk about commercial services in private (you can use the feedback form in the homepage).
Thank you again for your comments and good luck with your project!
Awesome & really beautiful interface. The only thing i would suggest is make the email template also look better. Otherwise you rock!!!! Awesome initiative, much appreciated.
Thanks to the article,I could not resist from commenting on this.
go ahead sailor and promote your thing!
Would it be posible to have a small youtube video for installation. regads. Saludos paisano.
Any updates and new developments for this one?? Any new friendly installations for not-so-saavy users like me?
